As more companies make the decision to bring employees back into the office, the change can be a bit jarring. Adjusting from remote work to commuting to the office doesn’t have to be stressful. I’m here to share 10 essential items to keep in your work bag so you can be prepared at your desk, and dare I say it, encouraged!
1. Laptop
I love my iPhone, but it is no replacement for my laptop on the days I really need it! I bring my personal laptop to work on days when I need to meal & grocery plan, work on blog posts, or work on non-work emails.
2. Planner
My planner is my most-used item in my work bag and I love it because it helps me stay organized. It helps me schedule when to hang out with friends and tackle tasks related to my home life. I prefer to use a physical planner like this one , but if you prefer digital planners, I would recommend trying that as well.
3. Cosmetics case
It’s good practice to keep a few items in a small cosmetics case that you might need. This could range from hand lotion, to concealer, mascara, travel-size perfume, a tampon, etc.
4. Sunglasses
For when you need to block the blinding 5 p.m. sun during rush hour.
5. Tide to Go Pen
Nothing is worse than wearing a stylish outfit that YOU KNOW you’re going to get compliments on, and then accidentally spilling coffee on your crisp white button-up before 8:30 a.m. I have used the Tide to Go pen for many, many stains and it works every time!
6. Lunch
Save money and time by packing your lunch. Sandwiches can get boring if you eat them too often, so think about what kind of meals you tend to buy on your lunch break, and start picking up those items from the grocery store. Then, you can pack a lunch that is not only cost-effective, but oh so tasty.
7. Wallet
Make sure you keep your wallet in your bag. The last thing you want to do is walk out of your house and realize you’ve forgotten your driver’s license, credit card, health insurance card, etc.
8. Water bottle
Water is essential for the body to function properly, so it’s important to stay hydrated throughout the day. Whether it’s just a cup from your house or an aesthetic reusable bottle, keep your water bottle on your desk as a reminder to drink up. I really want this Beis water bottle, but currently use a Tervis tumbler and love it!
9. Gum
This item doubles as a breath refresher and an instant energy boost!
10. Ear phones
I like to listen to podcasts and music throughout the day while I’m working. Podcasts allow me to learn about new subjects or further my knowledge in certain areas while music helps me to concentrate on tasks.
I hope you found this list helpful! What bag essentials would you recommend to employees transitioning to in-office work?
