Greenville, SC Girls Trip: Everywhere We Ate + Restaurant Recommendations

My mother and I went on our annual girls trip in August this year, and this time we went to my hometown of Greenville, South Carolina. We stayed at the Grand Bohemian Lodge downtown and it was fabulous! We did a lot of walking around downtown, checking out shops and lounging. But a great portion of the trip was spent dining, and oh, we ate well! Keep reading to see where all we dined and spoiler, everything was great.

Day 1 – August 17

A vibrant red cocktail garnished with a raspberry and served in a stylish glass, placed on a branded napkin. In the background, another drink can be seen.

Mid-Day Cocktails

Mom and I dropped off our bags and went to explore downtown. It’s changed so much since I’ve been back. We decided to get cocktails at Halls Chophouse and I am not exaggerating when I say this was the best cocktail I’ve ever had. It was a raspberry cocktail and it was perfectly balanced and the perfect raspberry cocktail for summer. Mom had an appletini!

A little treat at the hotel

When we returned to our hotel room, we had a personal note welcoming us to the Grand Bohemian and well wishes for our stay. It was accompanied by a petite box of macaroons. How sweet is that?

Room Service for dinner

By dinnertime, we did not feel like leaving, we just wanted to lounge in our room. So we decided to start rewatching The Vampire Diaries series and order room service! We ordered a charcuterie board and buffalo wings. We ended up picking at the charcuterie board but I absolutely devoured the wings.

Day 2 – August 18

A colorful plate of breakfast featuring scrambled eggs with diced ham, a biscuit, crispy breakfast potatoes in a blue bowl, and a small cup of salsa.
A green plate featuring creamy grits topped with sautéed spinach and crispy bacon bits, with a coffee cup in the background.

Breakfast

After waking up and enjoying our morning coffees at the hotel, we headed to The Flying Biscuit Cafe for breakfast. It’s only a few minutes’ walk from the hotel. The Flying Biscuit is cozy, and down-home with excellent food. I ordered a breakfast scramble with eggs, a side of potatoes and a biscuit. Mom ordered a grits bowl with spinach and bacon. My dad stopped by to say hi, too!

A close-up of a glass of beer with the logo 'GBX' for Greenville Beer Exchange, placed on a coasters with the word 'BEER' visible, set against a blurred bar background.

Cider Break

After breakfast, we walked around Main Street and checked out a few shops. Eventually, we ended up on a back street and saw a sign for Greenville Beer Exchange. We stopped in and made our way to the back tasting room. We had a lovely chat with the lady running the tap room, met a dog and his owner, and tasted a mead but ultimately settled on an apple cider.

A plate of grilled chicken breast sliced atop a bed of farro, surrounded by colorful vegetables including asparagus, red peppers, and mushrooms.

Lunch

After walking around for a bit, Nana joined mom and I for lunch! We dined at Between the Trees and ran into one of my cousins on my dad’s side! It was so great seeing her. Between the Trees is the on-site restaurant for the Grand Bohemian Lodge hotel. We sat next to the windows overlooking the treescape. It was very pretty. I ordered a grain bowl with chicken and it was delicious. Mom and Nana had the Cobb salad.

A slice of cheesecake topped with caramelized banana and coconut flakes, served on a white plate with a drizzle of sauce.

Dessert Break

We dashed across the street back to Halls Chophouse for dessert. Mom and Nana had the bread pudding. I had the bananas foster cheesecake. All were very good. You really can’t order anything bad there.

Day 3 – August 19

Morning Coffee

This was our final day of the trip. We started the day sipping our coffee from the Nespresso machine in our room. I was reading “Marple” by 12 authors authorized under the Agatha Christie estate, so I enjoyed the nice slow start to the morning.

A plate featuring a burrito topped with cheese sauce and diced tomatoes, accompanied by a bowl of grits and a glass of orange juice, set on a vibrant chili pepper-themed tablecloth.

Breakfast

After checking out of the hotel, we decided to go back to The Flying Biscuit Cafe for breakfast. The food was just so good! This time, I ordered a breakfast burrito with queso and pico and a side of cheese grits. Trust, I ate the whole burrito. Mom ordered scrambled eggs, a side of bacon, cheese grits and a biscuit. And the food was a 10/10.
