Whether you are a full coverage or natural girlie, one thing is certain. At the end of the day, it’s important to remove all makeup from your skin. Cleansing balms have surged in popularity with more brands offering a makeup remover in their retail lines. I tried four products at different price points and shared the results of each below.
Albolene Moisturizing Cleanser
Albolene starts the list with the most affordable price point for consumers. It retails for about $9.74 for 12 ounces and even if you wear makeup every day, this jar will last you a long time. The product comes out solid and melts on skin contact. The formula does feel heavier and thicker than the other products on this list but overall does an excellent job of removing makeup. I recommend following this step with a gentle face cleanser.
Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm
This is one of my favorite cleansing balms. The Clinique cleansing balm is a fragrance-free, lightweight formula. You only need to scoop out a small amount and it liquifies on skin contact. The product does a good job removing most makeup and my skin feels clean and smooth, not too dry and not greasy. Follow with your favorite cleanser. This product is available at different price points: the 1 oz mini for $15, 3.8 oz for $44 or 6.7 oz for $58.
Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm
I decided to try the Elemis cleansing balm after hearing so many recommendations from other beauty influencers. What they failed to mention is that the original scent has a very strong lavender smell. One of the first ingredients listed in the product is lavender oil and unfortunately I do not like lavender scented face products. But the formula is absolutely gorgeous. It’s like a silky cream that instantly liquifies on skin, much smoother and quicker than the other products. I will say this product struggled to take off regular mascara more than the other products on this list. Other than that, I love the formula so much and I look forward to trying the fragrance free version. This product is available at different price points: the 20 gram mini for $18, 50 grams for $40 or 100 grams for $69.
This is another nice cleansing balm that’s good for all skin types. The formula is a soft cream texture that melts on skin contact. I enjoy the seafoam green color, it’s very relaxing for nighttime skincare. This product is fragrance free and does a great job at removing makeup. There’s no residue left on the skin afterwards, but I would recommend following up with a face cleanser just like you would with any makeup remover. This product is available at different price points: the 1.7 oz mini for $24, 3.4 oz for $36 or 6.8 oz for $65.

Let me know your thoughts once you try! I think the Clinique is my favorite out of the four because the formula isn’t too heavy, fragrance free and removes all the makeup. I’ll have to check out the Eve Lom balm!
